You keep posting these little mirrors of the soul and this one reflects back to me a problem I have struggled with all of my life. So...is my self worth a reflection of how I am valued by family and friends or am I valued or devalued because of the view of myself that I project to others? Hmmmm....
I definitely agree that the way we see other people is often a reflection of the way we value (or devalue) our selves.
In a sense "value" is a verb. If we value our choices, our lives, our actions then our lives have value (as a man thinks, so is he). The One who values us the most is God, but -since He does not tell us in an obvious way how much He values us- we can only see glimpses of His love through revelation and through faith. Although it is elusive and harder to recognize, His ways are above our ways.
Sadly, we tend to pursue validation from other people instead of the validation that comes only from God. I feel I cannot warn myself (and others) enough about this problem.
It is a sure way to be let down. Most all of us are too self envolved and seeking validation to even notice what another needs or even to consider if we are offering validation to another. We're all a mess, BB.

Hmmm indeed ... Good question.
