Hey Burning,

I notice your punchlines are gradually moving away from subtle jabs to explicit messages! My faviourites would have to be the fantasy-self ones.

When I think about my own fantasy-self it's quite disheartening to realise how different he is from me at this point in my life. To make it worse it isn't the external possessions that the fantasy-self has over me, it's the inner character! Knowing that I am conscious or a more ideal self and yet never putting the effort in to making it closer to reality is quite frustrating.

Keep the comics coming!

Hi Tim,

I was wondering if anyone thought I was making a departure from my usual style ... the dialog in the first two is a little direct. The way a person relates to who they are can, at times, be explicit, and that is something I want to provoke in my readers (especially the reader who is also the writer). Although the formula is stale, the anti-formula formula is alive.

Tim, I find it so important that you have a clear view of what your 'ideal self' looks like. The fantasy self here is a trifling non-serious fantasy, but the true vision into how perfectly one could live can be uplifting and also devastating when one realizes the extreme separation one may have from it.

To have an existing, true self -to accept the very things which are not ideal- is the true ideal. When you are able to love others the way they are you will also learn the mystery of loving yourself the way you are. The mystery Christ presents us with is that he is the relief for those who are frustrated and weary-laden.

Hi BB,

I can't help but to hone in for the reason behind the fantasy self being to promote envy in others. This is manipulation and is a favorite tool used by narcissists who are the ultimate in creating a fantasy self. I think this sometimes happens when people have been made to feel horrible about themselves or have committed some sin that they cannot forgive themselves for. In a way it becomes suicide of self followed by the creation of a new self that is more acceptable.

Hmmm, now you have an idea of how I can complicate something very simple through the application of analyse and life experience.;-)Thinking too much...

That's a good point. Often times Christians are accused of being judgmental when they are often the very ones who love people the way they are. In what way is this so-called new self more acceptable? In appearance only.

The lure to think too much is very subtle. It's really easy to laugh at the guy in this comic strip while secretly fantasizing about having some flashy quality that others would desire.

It's nice to have you and Tim provide alternative interpretations to what I've been up to. So far I've heard some other perspectives which I wouldn't have said were 'going into' the work but -at the same time- say something very real. And it lets me know what's been on your mind.
